Short film research
The phrase "short movie" is a teaser. Though the name would suggest otherwise, making a short film requires a lot of time, work, and energy. This movie taught me that the most important phase in filming a short film is planning, if not the most important step overall. Writing for the type of movie you are attempting to produce is one of the most important planning lessons I learned from this video. This seemed clear at first, but then I gave it more thinking. It is crucial that we avoid taking on more than we can handle while writing our script and making plans for the production of our movie. To put it another way, we shouldn't try to include anything in our movie that we are aware won't be feasible for us to produce. For instance, we must watch out for going over budget, include items that will cost more than we are prepared to pay, and writing for a cast that is larger than the number of actors we know we will be able to hire. We can truly start writing after we have that ingrained in our minds. At this point, we will establish our primary story's development, protagonists and villains, and build out its beginning, middle, and finish. While viewing the video, I learned some useful advice, including the need to avoid giving away the plot's twists and turns to the viewer. This will assist maintain audience interest and grow viewers' faith in our movie. Another tip was to allow the story's theme.
