short film: last 3 minutes




 The film I chose to research was the last 3 minutes. This short film takes you through a tear-jerking flashback of a man's dying life. The short film the previous 3 minutes differs from our drama because in the last 3 minutes it displays a life drama meanwhile in our movie we display a sports drama. A Typical life drama would often be slower paced meanwhile our sports drama would most likely be a little bit faster. sound can be used to assist in the creation of tension, mood, tone, and changes in rhythm. This short included little to no dialogue about his entire life showing his life early on and how he has progressively aged showing his adventures along the way, instead the dialogue is displayed through the characters' body language and emotions. This sound from within the film is both diegetic and nondiegetic, the diegetic coming from the different events such as the army or the new baby or the beach, and the non-diegetic coming from the background music trying to create an emotion. The costumes of the film range from army gear to beach clothes and it imitates the emotion trying to be displayed. The lighting is truly all over the place but I did notice the colors seemed more vibrant in happy memories such as the baseball game. The acting shows deep emotions of fear, sadness, joy, love, etc. The props are also mirrored by what scene there in battle they have typical warfare gear and at the baseball game, they had classic sports equipment. The editing used many transitions such as a fade, and a jump cut. They also used many shots like close up and medium shots and the entire video is filmed from a point of view angle which in my personal opinion is my favorite part. The elements of the drama genre do not appeal to me at times it can feel extremely slow and bores me.

Yet again more editing

  We started editing our film last time my group and I met up. We didn't end up finishing so we decided to plan another time to finish. We had a three day weekend so it was the perfect time to finish. We all have quite busy schedules so we picked a day best for everyone. My group and I met up at Allisons house to continue editing. We knew this time would be quicker than last time since we already had the hang of it. But it actually was a lot faster than I expected.  It only took us about an hour to finish up editing everything. We had to finish putting the last few scenes together. We also had to add the background music and make sure everything was correct. We all grew quite impatient while editing since we were so eager to see the final outcome. We had a check list of all the different components we needed to complete throughout the project to keep us on track.  Props: -  Our group's music video is for an alternative song so many fun, party props are needed. We will need accessories such as jewelry,  glasses, and hats. We will also need props such as drink cups, a radio, and a microphone.  Costumes: - In our commercial our actors will be wearing party clothes such as colorful, or glittery items. Our male actor will wear black slacks and a white button down. Our female actors will be wearing dresses or fancy skirts. Actors will also be wearing dress shoes such as heels, flats or loafers for our male actor.
